Starting with the Foundation: The Power of a Rug
Rather than beginning with the desk, lighting, or layout, we chose to start with the rug. It set the tone for the entire office design, establishing the colour palette, style, and visual foundation for the space. Its subtle texture and grounding hues provided a calm, structured base that guided every design decision that followed.
A Refined, Trustworthy Aesthetic
For a law firm reception area, it was essential to convey professionalism, trust, and composure - qualities that every client should feel the moment they walk in. We leaned into a corporate aesthetic defined by clean lines, muted tones, and modern simplicity.
A palette of soft greys, charcoals, and taupes created a sense of calm sophistication, while maintaining a timeless and polished look.
Balancing Professionalism with Approachability
To prevent the space from feeling too formal or sterile, we added warmth and personality through gold and mustard scatter cushions. These subtle pops of colour softened the overall aesthetic, creating a reception area that feels both inviting and professional - a perfect balance between structure and comfort.
The final touch was a large, vibrant indoor plant, chosen for more than just its visual appeal. It introduced life, texture, and a sense of ease, softening the corporate edges of the room.
